Job Description

The City of Rancho Cucamonga is dedicated to enriching the community through a vibrant network of cultural, recreational, and community service facilities and programs. Among these assets is the Victoria Gardens Cultural Center, home to the esteemed Lewis Family Playhouse, an intimate and state-of-the-art performing arts venue with 560 seats. This cultural hub serves as a major anchor to the Victoria Gardens Lifestyle Shopping Center and contributes significantly to the local arts and entertainment scene by offering a diverse range of high-quality performances for children, families, and audiences of all ages throughout Southern California. Beyond the Playhouse, the center also features a 60-seat Black Box theatre, expansive event spaces, and a newly opened outdoor courtyard stage, creating a flexible environment for theatrical performances, community gatherings, and private events alike.

The Community Services Department manages not only the Cultural Center but also numerous community amenities including the Epicenter Sports Complex, RC Family Resource Center, RC Sports Center, Goldy S. Lewis Community Center, James L. Brulte Senior Center, and over 30 parks complete with shelters, hiking trails, and athletic fields. The department is committed to enhancing residents' quality of life through inclusive, innovative, and engaging recreational and cultural programming.

The City of Rancho Cucamonga is currently seeking a part-time Community Service Specialist to join the Event and Rentals team at the Victoria Gardens Cultural Center. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about the performing arts, community engagement, and event coordination in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. The Community Service Specialist will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional guest experiences and furthering the mission of fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for all visitors.

As a vital member of the Event and Rentals team, the Community Service Specialist will be responsible for managing and coordinating rental events within the cultural center. This includes overseeing the planning and preparation for rentals, managing client inquiries, generating quotes, tracking budgets, and ensuring compliance with rental permits. The Specialist will also lead part-time staff and volunteers, delegate supervisory duties, and collaborate closely with technical staff to facilitate smooth operations during events.

This position requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual capable of balancing administrative responsibilities with hands-on event support, such as setting up event spaces and supporting vendor logistics. Additionally, the role involves scheduling staff, monitoring vendor contracts and insurance, and assisting with other administrative duties to ensure program and event success. The Community Service Specialist is expected to embody the department's core values of integrity, humility, teamwork, curiosity, inclusivity, and zeal while championing an innovative approach to meeting the community’s needs.

This part-time position offers up to 32 hours per week, providing an excellent opportunity for those seeking flexible employment within a creative and dynamic cultural environment. Candidates who thrive on interpersonal interactions and enjoy contributing to the cultural enrichment of the community will find this role rewarding. If you are driven by the joy of creating meaningful community experiences and eager to be part of a dedicated team, the City of Rancho Cucamonga invites you to apply and help make a lasting impact through community service and cultural engagement.
