The role of Community Relations and Events Manager at KSL Media Group is a pivotal leadership position within the marketing team. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Brand & Marketing, this role is responsible for driving audience growth, strengthening brand performance, and boosting community engagement through innovative partnerships, events, and brand experiences. The position oversees a dedicated events team and collaborates with multiple business units, including television, radio, podcasts, sports, and online marketplaces. The Community Relations and Events Manager serves as a key external ambassador, forging strong connections with civic, charitable, and business organizations that align with KSL's mission and values. This hybrid role, based at KSL’s Salt Lake City site, requires dynamic leadership and strategic vision to plan, execute, and manage a wide array of events and partnerships that enhance KSL's presence and impact in the community. Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field
- 5+ years of experience in community relations or events management
- 2+ years of supervisory experience
- Proven partnership building skills
- Strong communication abilities
- Experience in fast-paced, news-driven environments
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Manual dexterity for office equipment use
- Prolonged computer work capability
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Events Management, Experience Marketing, Communications, Community Development or related field
- 5+ years of progressive experience in community relations, events management, external affairs, or brand management preferably within broadcast media, publishing or multi-platform media environment
- 2+ years of direct people-management experience at a supervisory level
- Demonstrated success building and managing partnerships with nonprofits, civic organizations, government entities, or corporate sponsors
- Proven record as an external representative in community-facing settings
- Portfolio of planned and executed events at various scales
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills including community-facing content drafting
- Experience leading cross-functional teams
- High emotional intelligence and cultural sensitivity
Job Duties
- Serve as a representative of KSL at community events, fundraisers, civic meetings, board functions, and industry gatherings
- Cultivate and manage strategic partnerships with nonprofits, government agencies, educational institutions, and business leaders
- Leverage community relationships to create partnership opportunities, co-branded campaigns, and activations
- Plan and oversee events ensuring smooth community activations aligning with marketing objectives and brand values
- Manage event budgets, vendor and venue contracts, and execute both small and large scale events
- Provide strategic direction, mentorship, and performance management for the community relations and events team
- Collaborate cross-functionally with creative directors, marketing managers, and sales teams to integrate community initiatives into broader campaigns
