The role of Community Program Manager – Events within OU Health offers a dynamic opportunity to lead and manage enterprise-level community health events and activations that resonate deeply with the organization's mission and brand. Reporting to the brand and growth marketing department, this position is instrumental in shaping how OU Health interacts with patients, donors, policymakers, media, and local business leaders across Oklahoma. The Community Program Manager takes responsibility for the complete event lifecycle including strategic planning, coordination, execution, and post-event analysis, ensuring all activities enhance OU Health’s visibility and partnership collaborations. This role works closely with multiple internal teams such as Marketing and Communications, Philanthropy, Government Relations, and Community Engagement, fostering synergy in messaging and outreach initiatives that align with OU Health’s strategic priorities. Besides managing high-profile events such as media announcements, philanthropic recognitions, facility openings, and government functions, the Community Program Manager ensures consistency with brand personality – approachable, innovative, and mission-driven – while upholding standards of professionalism and hospitality at every engagement.

This position requires exceptional project management skills, creativity in event activation, and strong relationship-building capabilities that enable cross-functional collaboration. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, hospitality, marketing, or related field required
  • five years of experience in event management preferably in healthcare, higher education, nonprofit, or corporate settings required
  • strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills including ability to distill complex information for diverse audiences
  • strong vendor negotiation and contract management skills
  • proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, event planning software, and project management tools
  • demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships across diverse internal teams, external partners, and community stakeholders
  • experience working in a matrixed organization and balancing competing priorities across departments
  • cultural competence and the ability to work inclusively across various demographics and community settings
  • ability to gather, interpret, and use data to drive strategy, measure outcomes, and facilitate continuous improvement
  • ability to work evenings and weekends for special events and activations as required

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute enterprise-level events including community health outreach, philanthropic and donor recognition, media announcements, facility openings, legislative functions, and business partnership activations
  • serve as the central point of contact for all external event logistics ensuring consistency, efficiency, and adherence to brand and operational standards
  • oversee event timelines, budgets, vendor relationships, and logistical details such as venues, permits, AV, catering, security, and branded materials
  • partner with marketing and communications on event messaging, creative direction, photography, and media support
  • coordinate post-event evaluation capturing outcomes, attendance data, and key learnings for continuous improvement
  • collaborate across departments and with university experiences to align external activation goals and strategies
  • ensure all events reflect OU Health’s brand personality and maintain the highest standards of professionalism and hospitality
