The role being offered is for a Community Outreach Coordinator based in the Metro Detroit area. This full-time position involves developing, facilitating, and executing outreach activities, special events, and programs aimed at educating members and increasing health plan awareness within Medicaid and Medicare populations as well as the broader community. The Coordinator will manage event logistics, foster community relationships, and ensure all marketing activities comply with relevant state regulations. Responsibilities include coordinating on-site event staffing, acting as a primary contact for sponsors, and maintaining a community events calendar to optimize member engagement.
The Community Outreach Coordinator will contribute to CVS Health’s mission by executing strategic outreach initiatives that strengthen the company’s presence and reputation in the community. This position requires a candidate who is highly organized, skilled in event planning, and capable of presenting information effectively to various audiences. Flexibility is essential, as the role may involve working weekends and off-shifts, along with significant travel (up to 50%) within the assigned region. Job Requirements
- Must reside in Metro Detroit area
- 2+ years customer service work experience
- Proficiency with standard corporate software applications including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint as well as special proprietary applications
- Able to present information to various audiences
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and off-shifts as required
- Must possess reliable transportation and have the ability to travel alone up to 50% of the time in assigned region
- Must obtain Health and Life insurance license within 6 months of employment
- High school diploma or equivalent required

- Bachelor's degree preferred
- 2+ years customer service work experience
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and proprietary software

- Ability to work independently
- Proven interpersonal and negotiating skills
- Health and Life insurance license preferred
- Experience with community outreach, development, community education, or event planning preferred
- Previous experience working with Medicaid and Medicare populations preferred
Job Duties
- Develops and implements outreach activities, special events, programs, and presentations to increase awareness of health plan presence in the community
- Ensures required documentation is in place for membership, leader-driven activities and events
- Manages on-site event staffing and handles any problems or emergencies that may arise, serving as primary contact for sponsors and event providers
- Coordinates event logistics including reserving space, catering, communications, distributing materials, facilities support, and setup/breakdown for the event
- Creates and maintains a community events calendar to assist the department with the community and member awareness
- Seeks out and secures event sponsorship by building and maintaining relationships with community contacts
- Prepares formal presentations for potential sponsors and members
- Conducts new member orientations and leads engagement events and activities
