As a Community Manager at Equity Residential, you will play a pivotal role in the daily operations and overall success of an apartment community. This role requires a hands-on leader responsible for ensuring financial performance, resident satisfaction, and high team productivity. You will manage daily activities such as leasing, sales, maintenance coordination, and community engagement while analyzing market dynamics to inform strategic decisions. Your leadership will be integral in recruiting, training, and motivating your team as well as maintaining operational excellence through policy implementation and effective budget management. The role demands strong communication skills, effective budgeting and operational oversight, adherence to housing laws, and a flexible work schedule including weekends and emergency responses. This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary between $84,297 and $93,919 plus bonus, where the starting pay is determined by your qualifications and experience.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Residential or commercial property management, hospitality, or retail experience
  • Customer service and sales experience
  • Valid driver's license, good driving record, auto insurance, and reliable transportation if operating motorized vehicles
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing in English
  • Knowledge of federal and state apartment housing laws
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and respond to emergencies
  • Use of a personal smartphone with updated software and password protection compliant with in-house security systems
  • Ability to use a computer effectively and read written communications
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 15 pounds
  • May be required to climb stairs depending on property structure

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Accomplishing property goals by recruiting, training, and motivating a high-performing team
  • Leading community staff with regular meetings, performance monitoring, and career development guidance

  • Preparing and managing the community operating budget, overseeing the processing and approval of all invoices and company purchases
  • Supporting marketing, pricing efforts, and monitoring sales performance for goal achievement

  • Building connections with residents through community events and activities
