The Community Event Specialist position at Wayfair Stores is a vital role designed to bring the Wayfair brand to life through creative, community-focused events that enhance local visibility and customer engagement. Reporting to the Senior Manager of People Operations, this role is responsible for leading event execution, ranging from supplier demonstrations to community gatherings. The specialist will also oversee seamless logistics, staffing, and vendor coordination to ensure every event runs smoothly from start to finish. Beyond event management, the role extends to supporting in-store promotions and visual merchandising initiatives, helping keep the store's atmosphere fresh, attractive, and customer-friendly.
The Community Event Specialist is a frontline ambassador during events, interacting warmly with customers, answering their questions, and positively representing Wayfair. Their creative instincts are equally important, as they will capture compelling moments for social media content in collaboration with the marketing team, ideally leveraging mobile photography skills. Cross-functional teamwork is a key part of the role, involving close collaboration with leadership, store support, and People Operations to align activities with broader business goals.
This role requires a self-starting, adaptable individual who thrives in a fast-paced, high-impact environment. Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays, along with the ability to travel up to 50% within a 50-mile radius to support events, is essential. Physical stamina is also important, as the job involves frequent standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs, and endurance in varying temperature and noise conditions.
With a starting hourly wage of $19, this position offers competitive pay with performance-based growth opportunities and comprehensive health benefits from day one. The benefits package also includes 401(k) with company match, tuition reimbursement, employee discounts, parental leave options, and paid time off to support work-life balance. Wayfair is committed to providing accommodations for individuals with disabilities, ensuring equal access throughout the hiring process and employment. This role presents an exciting opportunity to become an integral part of a leading home goods retailer and community-oriented brand, making meaningful connections through memorable, engaging events that celebrate both customers and the brand’s mission.
