Better Health Group is a leading healthcare organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals through innovative, patient-centered care. Our mission is Better Health, and our passion lies in helping others. We believe in creating a supportive environment where our team members can thrive both personally and professionally while driving meaningful impacts in their communities. As a prominent player in the healthcare industry, Better Health Group focuses on delivering best-in-class healthcare experiences by supporting providers and payors with the right tools and resources necessary to serve patients effectively. We don't just talk about our mission; we actively live it every day, fostering a culture of commitment, passion, and excellence among our team members. Joining Better Health Group means becoming part of a growing team that shares your passion for better health and a drive to make a difference in the lives of Medicare beneficiaries and the wider community.
The Community Events Specialist role at Better Health Group offers a unique opportunity for an autonomous and dynamic professional to lead all community event activities within the state of Alabama. This position is essential to expanding access to Better Health Group's care model and driving Medicare beneficiary awareness through high-quality, compliant educational events and community outreach. The Specialist operates with full independent judgment within the framework of enterprise-wide strategies, standards, and Medicare regulations, managing everything from regional event budgets to vendor partnerships. This role does not require day-to-day managerial approvals, empowering the individual to make decisions that align with strategic goals and compliance requirements. As the primary regional decision-maker, the Specialist ensures that all activities adhere strictly to CMS Medicare marketing regulations (42 CFR Part 422/423 Subpart V), Anti-Kickback Statute requirements, and Better Health Group's internal compliance policies.
This position entails comprehensive ownership over regional event planning and execution, from concept to post-event analysis. Events range from broker engagement sessions accommodating 25-100 attendees to large-scale events with up to 300 attendees. The Specialist independently classifies events as educational or marketing in accordance with CMS definitions, ensuring strict adherence to rules that govern each event type, such as prohibiting enrollment activities at educational events. Responsibilities also include venue selection, logistical coordination, ensuring nominal value compliance for any food, beverages, or gifts provided, and obtaining required approvals for marketing materials. The Specialist manages invitations, RSVPs, attendance tracking, and post-event communications while complying with CMS and HIPAA regulations. Additionally, this role involves autonomous financial accountability, including budget management, vendor negotiations, cost-sharing arrangements with health plan partners, and maintaining audit-ready records. Building and nurturing relationships with brokers and community partners within the compliance framework is essential, as is managing and analyzing CRM data and regional performance metrics.
The Community Events Specialist must maintain a deep understanding of Medicare regulations and compliance standards, proactively identifying any risks and collaborating with management and compliance teams when necessary. This role requires a highly organized, self-directed individual who can navigate complex regulatory environments while delivering impactful events that support Better Health Group’s mission. This position involves frequent travel within the assigned region (up to 75 percent), occasional evening and weekend work, and requires the ability to lift event materials and manage physical aspects of event execution. If you are passionate about making a positive difference in healthcare and possess strong event management skills coupled with regulatory knowledge, this role offers a rewarding career path at Better Health Group.
