Job Description

Draper City is a vibrant and growing community located in the state of Utah, known for its commitment to fostering a welcoming environment through various community-focused initiatives and events. The city prides itself on providing residents and visitors with engaging public activities that enhance the quality of life and promote community spirit. As part of this commitment, the Community Events team organizes and facilitates a wide range of local events, from seasonal festivals and cultural celebrations to public gatherings and outdoor recreational activities. These events play a significant role in bringing together diverse groups of people and building a cohesive social fabric within Draper City.

This seasonal position, reporting directly to the Community Events Manager, offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the success of Draper City's community events during the busy summer months. Operating primarily on-site Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with occasional weekend and evening hours, the role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of various events. The position is seasonal and runs from June through August, with a pay rate starting at $17.00 per hour, and $17.50 per hour for returning seasonal employees. This seasonal employment does not exceed six months in duration.

The Community Events Assistant is responsible for providing general support to the community events team by assisting with the setup, operation, and takedown of event equipment, including tables, chairs, tents, and signage. The role involves maintaining event inventory and storage, preparing city venues to host events through physical tasks such as painting, weed pulling, sweeping, and raking, and delivering excellent customer service to event attendees and contractors. This position requires physical stamina to perform manual labor outdoors in all weather conditions, sometimes including stressful and fast-paced environments.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, experience in community events or related fields, and the ability to drive pickup trucks and haul cargo trailers, which is strongly preferred. A valid Utah driver’s license and the physical capacity to lift and carry objects weighing 60 pounds or more are mandatory, with a lift test conducted at the time of interview. Successful applicants must demonstrate the ability to multitask effectively, maintain composure under pressure, and perform well in physically demanding roles. This entry-level opportunity not only supports Draper City's community engagement efforts but also offers valuable hands-on experience in event management and public service environments, making it a perfect fit for individuals seeking seasonal roles that blend outdoor work, customer interaction, and teamwork.
