Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation Administration, Event Management or closely related field
  • At least three years of progressively responsible experience in supervision, operation and management of events and facilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, solve problems, and exercise sound judgment in fast-paced settings
  • Ability to interpret policies and work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • Skill in project coordination, communication and relationship-building with staff, vendors and the public
  • Knowledge of event planning, recreation programming, budgeting and applicable regulations
  • Ability to recruit, train, schedule and supervise part-time staff

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation Administration, Event Management or closely related field

Job Duties

  • Plans, directs and coordinates community events and recreational activities for all age groups across departmental facilities including recreation centers, parks and trails
  • Oversees all customer service functions related to events including registrations, surveys and communications
  • Evaluates event performance and provides recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Develops, implements and updates departmental policies and procedures to enhance operational effectiveness
  • Creates and manages sponsorship packages to support and expand event offerings
  • Collaborates with internal divisions to produce marketing and promotional materials including brochures, newsletters, website content and flyers
  • Prepares and manages event budgets including expense and revenue projections
