Job Description
JCS is a well-established organization focused on delivering social services and community support to marginalized, elderly, and at-risk populations. As part of its commitment to enriching the lives of individuals and strengthening community bonds, JCS operates a variety of programs designed to meet the diverse needs of those it serves. With a strong foundation rooted in Jewish values and traditions, the organization emphasizes compassionate service, cultural awareness, and meaningful engagement. JCS prides itself on fostering a collaborative work environment where staff and volunteers work closely to achieve impactful outcomes. This commitment to community welfare is reflected in its wide-ranging programs, including volunteer-driven initiatives that bring connection, care, and support to seniors and other vulnerable groups.
Within this active and mission-driven environment, the Volunteer and Community Engagement Program Coordinator plays an essential role in bridging the gap between JCS programs, volunteers, community partners, and the populations served. This position is based in the External Relations department and focuses on managing all aspects of volunteer and intern engagement, including recruitment, training, placement, and ongoing support. As the volunteer coordinator, the incumbent maintains critical relationships and communications with all organizational departments to ensure volunteers are effectively deployed where they can have the most positive impact. The role also involves direct supervision of the Friendly Visitors program, a unique initiative aimed at fostering social connections and safety checks for seniors. Through this program, the coordinator collaborates with case management to identify participating seniors, matches them with appropriate volunteers, and supports the ongoing relationship between them.
Beyond volunteer coordination, this position provides vital marketing and outreach support by helping design and produce marketing materials, social media content, and email campaigns. This dual focus on both program management and communication efforts helps raise the visibility of JCS’s services and strengthens community engagement and donor relations. Additionally, the coordinator acts as a central liaison at community events and networking opportunities, enhancing organizational presence and forging new partnerships. By maintaining accurate volunteer databases and contributing to budget monitoring and planning, the role ensures operational efficiency and sustainability. This multifaceted position demands excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills and a commitment to upholding the values and mission of JCS.
Employment for the Volunteer and Community Engagement Program Coordinator is full-time and offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute meaningfully to community well-being. Candidates with a background in program coordination or social services, especially those experienced with marginalized or elderly populations, will find this role deeply fulfilling. The coordinator will be a pivotal figure connecting dedicated volunteers with impactful programs, driving both volunteer engagement and community participation to new heights while supporting JCS’s broader story and donor engagement strategies. This role is ideal for an energetic, empathetic professional eager to make a tangible difference through volunteerism and community engagement within a vibrant nonprofit setting.
