Job Description
Louisville Public Media (LPM) is a respected and dynamic public media organization serving Greater Louisville and Southern Indiana. As a cornerstone of the community, LPM delivers diverse programming through radio and digital platforms, engaging audiences with news, music, and cultural content that reflects the rich heritage and evolving identity of the region. Rooted in a mission to inform, connect, and inspire, Louisville Public Media is committed to representing all voices, cultivating community partnerships, and fostering an inclusive environment that embraces diversity and equity. LPM operates with a collaborative spirit, integrating content, revenue, and operational teams to further its goals and extend its reach to broader and more diverse communities.
The Community Engagement & Events Manager plays a vital role in advancing LPM's mission by leading the organization’s event production and community engagement initiatives. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the manager works closely with content creators, marketing, revenue, and development teams to design and execute high-quality, mission-aligned events that range from large-scale public gatherings such as WFPK Waterfront Wednesdays to intimate donor and member receptions. This position is key to strengthening LPM’s visibility, fostering real relationships in neighborhoods and communities that have yet to see themselves reflected in LPM’s offerings, and expanding audience acquisition and fundraising efforts.
This role carries dual responsibilities in both community engagement and event production. It involves actively showing up in communities with consistent and intentional presence through recurring events, listening sessions, forums, and strategic partnerships with civic institutions and local businesses. The Community Engagement & Events Manager champions diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout all initiatives, ensuring that LPM’s outreach is authentic and impactful.
On the events production side, the manager oversees all aspects of event planning, budgeting, logistics, vendor coordination, and on-site execution to deliver memorable experiences that align with LPM’s brand and strategic goals. Responsibilities include collaborating with Waterfront Park and WFPK staff for signature events, managing sponsorship engagement with the Business Partnership Team, and leveraging marketing support to maximize event attendance and impact. Critical to this role is the ability to turn first-time attendees into loyal audiences and members, thereby diversifying revenue streams and fulfilling LPM’s mission of serving a diverse community.
The position offers an annual salary range of $55,000 to $65,000 and includes a comprehensive benefits package with health insurance, 401(k), and generous paid time off. The work environment is flexible, balancing office collaboration with community presence, and providing professional growth opportunities through personalized training and industry connections. Louisville Public Media values a supportive, transparent, and experimental work culture that prizes accountability and fosters innovation. This role is ideal for a highly organized, communicative, and relationship-oriented professional passionate about public media and community building.
