Job Description
Central Texas Food Bank (CTFB) is the largest hunger-relief organization in Central Texas and a proud member of the Feeding America network. Headquartered in Austin, CTFB serves a 21-county region with a dedicated mission to increase food access by providing nutritious food, leading hunger and poverty advocacy efforts, and transforming lives through programs, education, and innovative solutions. Through a robust network of direct service programs and approximately 250 nonprofit community partners, CTFB supports over 612,000 food-insecure individuals annually. The organization fosters a collaborative and community-focused culture that values service, integrity, dignity, collaboration, and innovation. Joining CTFB means becoming part of a mission-driven team committed to shaping a healthier future for Central Texas neighbors and ensuring immediate and equitable access to nutritious food for all.
The Community Distribution Coordinator role is a critical position reporting to the Community Distribution Manager. This role facilitates the Mobile Pantry distributions that directly aid community members in need across CTFB's 21-county territory. The position involves significant fieldwork, spending most of the time visiting Mobile Pantry distribution sites and traveling between them. It requires a hands-on approach including manual labor and using technology to securely collect sensitive information in the field. As a visible representative of the food bank, the coordinator maintains strong, positive relationships with colleagues, volunteers, community neighbors, and program partners. The role demands dependability, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently. Key responsibilities include portfolio coordination, neighbor assistance through client intake and data management, event and volunteer coordination, and comprehensive data collection and entry to meet compliance requirements. Additional duties include managing special projects such as major distribution events, pilot programs, disaster response efforts, and supporting the broader mission and culture of CTFB. This position operates primarily Tuesday through Saturday with shifts potentially starting early in the morning and occasionally requires after-hours work during peak periods and emergencies. The role demands physical ability to lift 5 to 50 pounds and work effectively in varying weather conditions and irregular hours.
