Job Description

GECU is currently seeking a Receptionist to join their Community Development department. This role is essential in supporting the department's various functions and ensuring a smooth and efficient operation. The Receptionist will be the first point of contact for members and visitors, providing excellent customer service and administrative assistance. This full-time position plays a pivotal role in coordinating events such as workshops and free tax preparation services, helping to promote financial literacy and independence within the community. The role involves multitasking and requires a high level of organization, communication skills, and attention to detail. The ideal candidate will contribute to GECU's mission by supporting community-focused programs and ensuring an excellent experience for all participants and members. The position requires working Monday through Friday with some Saturday hours, reflecting the organization's commitment to accessibility and member service. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • one to three years of similar or related experience
  • able to work with numerous interruptions
  • must be able to sit for the majority of the day
  • able to lift up to 20 pounds
  • able to bend, squat, climb, twist, and kneel occasionally
  • able to reach above and below shoulder level frequently
  • available to work Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. and Saturday 8:00 a.m.-12:15 p.m. on a rotating schedule
  • compliant with GECU policies and regulatory requirements including BSA, AML, MIP, and OFAC

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge of GECU and HOAP policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • member focused with exceptional follow up and attention to detail
  • good oral and written communication and organizational skills, preferably fluent in English and Spanish
  • proficient in word processing and spreadsheet software
  • ability and flexibility to multi task, prioritize, and organize multiple projects concurrently
  • assertive and resourceful with analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • good judgment skills
  • high degree of integrity and respect for confidentiality and privacy
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team

Job Duties

  • Provide administrative support to the community development department
  • coordinate overall office administrative activities
  • assure availability of material and equipment needed for workshops
  • keep track of class participants and prepare certificates
  • prepare documents for workshop instructors
  • assist the department by reporting security and maintenance issues when manager is not available
  • assist with VITA site coordinators to ensure successful delivery of free tax preparation
  • answer phone calls and provide information on services
  • register, track and follow up with interested parties for workshops and VITA training
  • collect information on phone calls requesting counseling assistance and refer appropriately and/or set appointment for counseling
  • assist counselors as needed regarding various functions
  • maintain calendars and schedule follow up appointments with clients
  • set up rooms for training
  • serve as a VITA greeter during tax season
  • receive and distribute all correspondence
  • order supplies as needed
  • prepare electronic and USP mail outs
  • pick up and drop off mail/make deposits
  • perform other duties as assigned related to credit union operations
  • maintain and understand compliance with GECU policies and applicable regulations including BSA, AML, MIP, and OFAC
