The role of Community Assistant at University Village is a vital part-time position based in Laredo, Texas, supporting the property management team to achieve occupancy and retention objectives. This position involves performing a range of administrative duties, customer service functions, leasing assistance, and marketing outreach to enhance community engagement and resident satisfaction. The Community Assistant works closely with residents and prospective tenants, handling essential tasks such as document preparation, lease processing, resident communication, and coordinating move-in and move-out procedures. The position also requires participation in after-hours emergency response on a scheduled on-call basis.

As a Community Assistant, you will be instrumental in driving revenue and occupancy by conducting virtual and in-person property tours, responding to inquiries, and providing exceptional customer service. You will support marketing efforts through on-campus outreach and assist in organizing resident events that foster a welcoming community atmosphere. The role demands physical activity, including standing, walking, lifting, and working in various weather conditions, and requires a flexible work schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in customer service or property management preferred
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Effective communication skills
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb ladders, and lift up to 25 pounds independently
  • Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Must be able to respond to after-hours emergencies
  • Must be able to work at least one on-call shift per week
  • Ability to travel occasionally for training or property assistance

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in property management or leasing preferred
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to conduct virtual and in-person tours effectively
  • Proficient in administrative and clerical tasks
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Ability to handle resident concerns professionally
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Job Duties

  • Perform administrative tasks including copying documents, filing resident files, preparing notices, handling resident calls, organizing rent payments and collateral materials
  • Assist with sales and leasing by conducting virtual tours, responding to inquiries, greeting and qualifying prospects, conducting property tours and showing apartments
  • Assist with lease preparation and organize resident lease files
  • Support move-in and move-out processes, including mandatory work dates for these events
  • Answer incoming calls and set appointments for property tours
  • Conduct on-campus marketing outreach to generate community awareness and traffic
  • Coordinate resident functions such as parties, birthday cards, unit visits, and other programs to enhance resident satisfaction
  • Schedule and conduct resident visits and distribute notices including flyers, newsletters, surveys, and late notices
  • Act as after-hours liaison responding to emergencies with one on-call shift per week
  • Respond promptly to resident concerns and communicate issues to the appropriate team member
