The Community Assistant position at Campus West, part of Greystar’s student living portfolio in Syracuse, New York, is a part-time role integral to supporting the property management team in meeting occupancy and retention targets. This role requires performing various administrative tasks that relate to leasing, marketing, and customer service within the residential community. The Community Assistant works closely with leasing professionals to facilitate a smooth leasing process, from greeting prospective residents and conducting property tours to preparing leases and assisting with move-in and move-out procedures. Additionally, the role involves handling resident communications, organizing resident functions, and serving as an after-hours liaison to promptly address emergencies and resident concerns. The flexible schedule incorporates mandatory work during move-in and move-out dates and on-call shifts, demanding adaptability and commitment.

Compensation for this role ranges from $16.00 to $17.00 per hour, with additional performance bonus opportunities depending on the nature of the position. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to work part-time including mandatory move-in and move-out dates
  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit for extended periods, bend, stoop, climb ladders, reach, carry objects, and crawl in confined areas
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Capability to push, pull, lift, carry, or maneuver weights up to 25 pounds independently and up to 50 pounds with assistance
  • Must be available for one on-call shift per week and flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Reliable transportation to and from the work site
  • Comfortable interacting with residents and prospects in a professional manner

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in leasing, customer service, or administrative roles preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to conduct property tours and engage prospective residents professionally
  • Basic computer proficiency including experience with office software and virtual communication tools
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Willingness to work in a team-oriented, customer-focused environment

Job Duties

  • Performs administrative tasks for the leasing office including but not limited to copying documents, filing resident files, preparing notices, handling resident calls, and organizing rent payments and other collateral materials
  • Assists with sales and leasing activities by conducting virtual tours, responding to online inquiries, greeting and qualifying prospects, conducting property tours, and showing apartments
  • Assists with the lease preparation process by generating all required lease paperwork and organizing resident lease files
  • Assists with move-in and move-out processes for residents and commits to working these mandatory work dates
  • Answers incoming calls and sets appointments for prospects to tour the property
  • Performs on-campus marketing outreach to generate community awareness and qualified traffic
  • Assists with coordinating resident functions including parties, birthday cards, unit visits, and other programs to achieve resident satisfaction goals
  • Schedules and conducts resident visits as directed and distributes notices such as flyers, newsletters, resident surveys, and late notices
  • Acts as an after-hours liaison between residents and property management, responding to emergencies during on-call shifts
  • Responds quickly and courteously to resident concerns and questions, taking prompt action to resolve problems or convey requests to appropriate individuals
