Job Description
Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA) is a leading organization dedicated to providing high-quality emergency medical services and community engagement across various regions, including Tulsa and Oklahoma City. EMSA is committed to delivering efficient pre-hospital care, enhancing public safety, and fostering strong community partnerships. The organization operates with a focus on professionalism, reliability, and responsiveness to the dynamic needs within the communities it serves. EMSA values innovation, teamwork, and continuous improvement to maintain the highest standards in emergency medical response and public service.\n\nThe role of Community Engagement and Special Events Coordinator at EMSA is a dynamic and multifaceted position designed to enhance the relationship between EMSA and the communities it supports. This full-time position requires approximately 40 percent travel between EMSA divisions, mainly between Tulsa and Oklahoma City, including occasional overnight stays. The Coordinator will develop and implement community outreach programs that promote public understanding and engagement with EMSA services. Acting as a liaison, they will build and maintain relationships with community partners, civic organizations, and other stakeholders. The position encompasses coordinating and managing special events, festivals, sporting activities, and educational demonstrations—ensuring EMSA’s presence and operational readiness at these occasions.\n\nKey responsibilities include facilitating public dialogue to gather feedback, collaborating with internal departments and external agencies, overseeing logistics and staffing for events, and managing contracting and billing documentation associated with special events. The role demands strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively. The Coordinator will also be tasked with reporting community engagement data to EMSA’s Public Affairs leadership and supporting community service opportunities for EMSA team members. Comfortable with public speaking and engaging diverse audiences, the ideal candidate will bring a minimum of three years of experience in related fields such as EMS, community relations, event planning, or public relations.\n\nThis role plays a crucial part in enhancing EMSA’s visibility and reputation within the communities it serves by ensuring seamless coordination of community engagement activities and special events. It requires a proactive approach to managing relationships with vendors, partners, and internal teams while adhering strictly to EMSA’s safety protocols and organizational policies. The position does not have supervisory responsibilities but requires excellent organizational, project management, and customer service skills. Physical demands include the ability to sit or stand for extended periods, occasional lifting of materials up to 25 lbs, and the capability to travel independently as required by the role. The work environment is typically a temperature-controlled office with periodic attendance at outdoor events and occasional "ride-alongs" with field staff. The ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment is essential, given the exposure to sensitive information. This role offers a unique opportunity for individuals passionate about emergency services, community engagement, and event coordination to contribute positively to public health and safety through impactful outreach and operational support.
