Job Description

East Texas Lighthouse is a dedicated nonprofit organization committed to empowering individuals with disabilities through comprehensive support, resources, and community engagement. With a focus on fostering independence and enhancing quality of life, East Texas Lighthouse serves the East Texas region by providing vital programs that advocate for accessibility and inclusion. Known for its unwavering dedication to the disabled community, the organization combines compassionate service with strategic initiatives to elevate awareness and drive meaningful impact across multiple counties. Operating in a lean environment, the nonprofit thrives on a collaborative spirit where every employee plays a crucial role in advancing its vision and mission.

The Communications and Outreach Manager position at East Texas Lighthouse is a vital role responsible for leading the brand communications, donor engagement, and community outreach efforts. This role demands a blend of creativity, strategic thinking, and relationship management while also requiring hands-on execution and project coordination. It is a unique opportunity for a marketing and communications professional who is passionate about nonprofit work and wants to make a tangible difference by increasing the organization's visibility and support through executive campaigns and tailored messaging.

In this role, the Communications and Outreach Manager will develop and execute comprehensive campaigns that promote the organization’s programs, services, events, and success stories, effectively engaging diverse stakeholders including donors, volunteers, community partners, and the public. Managing all email and print communications, steering social media presence, and maintaining consistent brand identity will be crucial responsibilities that support fundraising and outreach goals. The role also encompasses leading key fundraising campaigns, donor stewardship initiatives, and collaboration with internal teams to enhance donor acquisition, retention, and recognition.

Furthermore, the manager will spearhead event planning and execution efforts, including awareness campaigns, fundraising galas, community outreach events, and employee engagement activities. Building and nurturing relationships with media contacts, local organizations, and community influencers will amplify the reach and impact of East Texas Lighthouse’s work. This position also requires coordination with external vendors and partners to ensure seamless communications and effective outreach.

Given the hands-on nature of this role in a small team environment, the ideal candidate must exhibit strong organizational skills, project management capabilities, and the ability to prioritize multiple demands. Proficiency with digital tools such as email campaign software, social media management platforms, content management systems, and CRM software like Salesforce enhances effectiveness in driving results.

The position requires travel locally, regionally, and nationally to participate in events, conferences, and community engagement opportunities. A commitment to the mission and values of East Texas Lighthouse, along with a passion for disability inclusion and accessibility, are essential traits for success in this role. This opportunity offers a fulfilling career path to contribute meaningfully to a respected nonprofit organization while utilizing and expanding professional skills in communications and outreach.
