The part-time Communications and Events Manager role at BYU’s College of Nursing is a vital position responsible for the strategic planning and operational management of event communications, social media direction, and project coordination. Working 17.5 hours per week, this role is designed for an individual who excels in managing multiple priorities with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication. The manager is the central point for managing event logistics, including venues, catering, audiovisual support, registrations, signage, and vendor coordination. They are also responsible for creating and delivering comprehensive event communications through various channels such as websites, emails, graphics, digital signage, and social media promotions. This role plays a significant part in maintaining consistent messaging and quality control, overseeing production calendars, approvals, and workbacks to ensure every communication piece is accurate, approved, and published on time.

In addition, the Communications and Events Manager supervises student employees involved in social media content creation, photography, videography, and graphic design. Providing mentorship, training, and constructive feedback to these students enhances the overall communications workflow and supports the college’s goals. The manager tracks social media performance metrics, manages intake requests for communications and events, and continuously improves processes for efficiency and effectiveness. The typical hourly pay ranges from $22.50 to $29.25, corresponding to the pay grade 49. Job Duties

  • serve as the operational lead for major college of nursing events including student college alumni donor and partner-facing events
  • coordinate event logistics including venues catering audiovisual needs registration staffing signage and vendor support
  • develop event communications including websites emails graphics digital signage rsvp forms and social media promotions
  • coordinate printed materials promotional items and event supplies
  • manage event timelines oversee day-of operations and evaluate event outcomes
  • manage the college's social media strategy and content calendar
  • supervise student employees responsible for creating and publishing social media content
