Job Description
YWCA Knoxville & the Tennessee Valley is a well-established nonprofit organization committed to eliminating racism and empowering women in East Tennessee. Serving six counties, the organization provides housing, supportive services, and programs designed to strengthen women, children, and families. Rooted in core values of peace, justice, freedom, and dignity, YWCA Knoxville & the Tennessee Valley has a strong reputation for creating safe and stable communities where individuals and families can thrive. Its approach integrates community engagement with practical services, fostering opportunities for long-term growth and empowerment for those it serves.
Located in Knoxville, Tennessee, this organization seeks a Communications and Events Coordinator to join its dedicated team. This full-time, non-exempt position is instrumental in advancing the mission of YWCA Knoxville & the Tennessee Valley by enhancing its visibility and strengthening community connections. The Communications and Events Coordinator reports to the Director of Development or, when necessary, the Chief Executive Officer. The role involves leading communications and marketing activities, coordinating special events, and supporting donor and volunteer engagement strategies. The primary goal is to increase philanthropic support and community awareness of the YWCA’s impactful programs and initiatives.
This position suits a detail-oriented and creative professional who excels at multitasking, storytelling, and logistics management. The ideal candidate will be passionate about community building and motivated to develop effective communications that resonate with diverse audiences. Responsibilities include managing day-to-day communications through social media, email campaigns, and newsletters, ensuring brand consistency, and curating content that highlights the organization’s successes and impact stories. Special event coordination involves planning and executing fundraising events such as the Keys of Hope Luncheon and Diversity Day, managing timelines, vendors, and on-site operations while fostering positive donor experiences.
Volunteer coordination is another key aspect of the role, encompassing recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and maintaining records of volunteer engagement. Administrative duties round out the position, including tracking engagement metrics, maintaining CRM data, supporting donor stewardship efforts, and assisting with general communications and development operations. This role demands strong organizational skills, initiative, the ability to work independently, and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends to support events.
The compensation for this position ranges from $45,000 to $47,500 annually, with a standard Monday through Friday schedule that offers flexibility due to event demands. Benefits include comprehensive health coverage such as medical, dental, and vision insurance, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance, an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), retirement plans with employer contributions, and generous paid time off and holidays. YWCA Knoxville & the Tennessee Valley is an equal opportunity employer, committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace and encourages applications from women and individuals from historically underrepresented communities.
