The role offered is for a Data Center Commissioning Engineer (CxE), based in Atlanta, GA, a critical position within AWS Infrastructure Services. At AWS, the commissioning engineer is a key part of the Amazon Commissioning Team (ACx), a highly skilled group focused on delivering top-tier quality in new and ongoing data center projects. This role is embedded in a fast-paced and innovative environment where the engineer collaborates with software, hardware, network engineers, supply chain experts, operations managers, and security professionals to maintain seamless data center performance. The CxE's responsibilities include overseeing the commissioning process of complex electrical and mechanical systems such as medium and low voltage power systems, generators, UPS units, HVAC components, chilled water systems, and building management systems. They ensure rigorous testing and validation of all infrastructure elements, guaranteeing that systems meet design specifications and operate as intended.

As part of this role, the engineer will conduct Factory Witness Testing (FWT), lead on-site testing phases, and coordinate all aspects of project commissioning to meet schedule and quality targets. This requires a detailed understanding of design documents, submittals, test plans, and scripts while managing third-party vendors to ensure compliance with quality and safety regulations. The CxE will also drive continuous improvement efforts by documenting lessons learned and providing feedback across teams, contributing to AWS's reputation for operational excellence.

Physical demands and job conditions include walking uneven terrain on job sites, working at heights, using hands for detailed work, lifting objects up to 49 pounds, and working extended shifts—including nights and weekends—while maintaining safety and productivity.
