The Data Center Commissioning Engineer (CxE) role at AWS is a dynamic, fast-paced position that offers the opportunity to work in a highly creative and efficient team focused on solving complex challenges associated with building and supporting the operational readiness of Amazon-owned data centers. The CxE is central to the commissioning team known as ACx, which is responsible for assessing construction quality and ensuring design compliance to meet stringent customer requirements. As a Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the testing and validation of various critical systems including medium and low voltage power systems, generators, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), HVAC components such as air handlers and exhaust fans, chilled water systems, building management systems (BMS), electrical power monitoring systems (EPMS), pumps, hydronic systems, and testing and balancing operations. You will play a key role in reviewing design documents, leading Factory Witness Testing, and managing third-party commissioning vendors to ensure comprehensive pre-functional, functional, and integrated system testing is conducted according to high standards and compliance requirements.
The role demands physical capabilities such as the ability to walk job sites with uneven terrain, working at heights, lifting objects up to 49 pounds, and enduring long shifts, including nights and weekends. Additionally, the role requires a substantial amount of travel – up to 80% domestically and internationally – making flexibility and adaptability essential qualities.

Job Requirements

Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years of engineering, installation, or commissioning experience in electrical/mechanical systems
- Experience in mission-critical facilities such as data centers or power generation
- Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical system components
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong communication and organizational skills
