This position is for a Commissary Shift Manager at HMSHost, a vital role within the food production and service operations of the company. The Commissary Shift Manager supports the Commissary Manager or Commissary Chef in daily operations, ensuring efficient and smooth functioning of the commissary. This role involves overseeing non-management associates, assigning work, coaching, and facilitating training to ensure compliance with company standards and to uphold operational excellence. As a non-exempt role reporting typically to the Commissary Manager or Commissary Chef, the Commissary Shift Manager plays a crucial role in maintaining food quality, safety standards, and operational procedures. The position challenges the manager to handle routine day-to-day supervision tasks while being able to escalate complex issues appropriately. The manager is also responsible for employee development, including performance management activities such as recommendations for hiring, firing, and promotions within the commissary team. Job Requirements

  • Up to 2 years of job-related experience in low volume and/or multi-unit food and beverage or food production operations or other related management experience
  • Demonstrates team management, delegation and issue resolution skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Demonstrates knowledge of HMSHost policies and product, service, quality, equipment and operations standards
  • Ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with individuals

Job Qualifications

  • Up to 2 years of job-related experience in low volume and/or multi-unit food and beverage or food production operations or other related management experience
  • Demonstrates team management, delegation and issue resolution skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Demonstrates knowledge of HMSHost policies and product, service, quality, equipment and operations standards
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

Job Duties

  • Supervises the day-to-day activities of non-management associates
  • Assigns work responsibilities and ensures that all shifts are covered
  • Conducts and coordinates on-the-job training for associates, and ensures all associates receive basic skills training to perform their jobs
  • Resolves routine questions and problems and refers more complex issues to higher levels
  • Provides recommendations for hiring, firing, advancement, promotion or any other status change of associates within the store
