With a firm commitment to fostering an engaging workplace culture, HMSHost provides its employees with expansive resources, comprehensive training programs, and plentiful advancement opportunities, enabling them to achieve their career ambitions in the hospitality sector. The company prides itself on cultivating an environment where appreciation, inclusiveness, and care are central to the employee experience. They believe strongly in encouraging employees to be the best version of themselves, supported by competitive wages, robust benefits, and recognition programs that celebrate outstanding work.

The role of the Commissary Shift Manager at HMSHost is essential to the day-to-day operations of the commissary unit, supporting the Commissary Manager or Commissary Chef in ensuring smooth and efficient performance. This position is non-exempt and typically reports directly to the Commissary Manager or Chef. The Shift Manager's responsibilities include supervising the daily activities of non-management associates, assigning their work duties, and ensuring all shifts are adequately staffed. In addition to overseeing operational aspects, the Commissary Shift Manager is tasked with coordinating on-the-job training programs to ensure all associates are well-equipped with the required skills to fulfill their roles effectively.

Problem-solving and decision-making are vital components of this role, as the Shift Manager must address routine questions and resolve issues that arise during operations, escalating more complex matters when necessary. The position also involves providing recommendations regarding associate status changes, including hiring, firing, promotions, and advancements, reflecting the importance of leadership and team management within the commissary environment. This role demands strong multitasking abilities, delegation skills, and a solid understanding of HMSHost’s policies related to product standards, service quality, safety, and operational procedures.

HMSHost values manager-coaches who blend passion for hospitality with the ability to lead, guide, and inspire their teams while maintaining a positive and enjoyable workplace. As a Commissary Shift Manager, you will have an opportunity to develop professionally, benefit from tuition reimbursement, participate in a generous 401(k) retirement plan with company match, and enjoy comprehensive insurance coverage including health, dental, and vision. Additional benefits such as holiday pay, meal and transportation allowances, paid time off, and employee assistance programs enhance the overall employee experience. If you're passionate about service, thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy team collaboration, and have a desire to grow your career while having fun, HMSHost offers a supportive and rewarding environment to achieve your goals.
