Job Description
Joseph's Classic Market is a well-established and respected grocery store known for its commitment to providing high-quality, fresh, and delicious products to its community. With a focus on exceptional customer service and premium offerings, Joseph's Classic Market has become a trusted name in the food retail industry. The company prides itself on combining traditional values with modern convenience, ensuring that every customer has access to the finest foods and culinary experiences. Operating multiple store locations, Joseph's Classic Market emphasizes quality, consistency, and operational excellence in everything it does.
The commissary at Joseph's Classic Market serves as the central hub for large-scale food production, preparing approximately 8,000 pounds of food daily to supply all store locations with restaurant-quality meals. This is a specialized role that differs greatly from traditional restaurant kitchen positions, focusing on efficiency, structured batch production, and leadership in a fast-paced environment. The Commissary - Production Chef plays a critical role in maintaining the high standards of Joseph's Classic Market by overseeing all aspects of production, ensuring that each meal meets the brand's rigorous quality and safety expectations before reaching customers.
This position is perfect for culinary professionals who excel in leadership, organization, and operational management within high-volume settings rather than direct customer-facing roles. The role involves managing large quantities of food, coordinating multi-location distribution, and leading a team of cooks and food prep staff to ensure smooth and consistent output. Beyond the kitchen, the Commissary - Production Chef is heavily involved in scheduling, inventory control, cost management, and continual process improvement.
Joseph's Classic Market is deeply invested in team growth and development. The commissary role offers opportunities to enhance skills in batch cooking, food safety compliance, labor management, and operational leadership. Employees are encouraged to take ownership of their work, mentor their teams, and grow alongside the business. The environment fosters collaboration with store chefs and leadership to plan menus, refine products, and implement best practices. This is an ideal career path for culinary leaders who want to develop expertise in large-scale production and make a meaningful impact within a dynamic and growing organization.
Working as a Commissary - Production Chef at Joseph's Classic Market means engaging with a unique set of challenges and rewards. The role requires detailed attention to batch recipes, quality control, and precise portioning to maintain consistency across multiple store locations. Production oversight extends to packaging, labeling, and distribution logistics, ensuring all products are delivered fresh and compliant with food safety standards. The chef also manages kitchen sanitation, equipment maintenance, and compliance with all regulatory guidelines.
The position demands flexibility with work hours, including nights, weekends, overnights, and holidays to meet production requirements. Physical stamina is necessary due to extended periods of standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds. In return, employees benefit from a supportive work environment, competitive pay, comprehensive health benefits, paid time off, and opportunities for career advancement. Joseph's Classic Market values passionate culinary professionals committed to excellence and driven to lead successful high-volume food production operations.
