The role of Commercial Account Manager is critical within the agency. This position is responsible for assisting clients with service needs and managing changes to existing commercial insurance accounts efficiently and accurately. The Commercial Account Manager will work closely with Producers and Account Executives in the handling and processing of new and renewal business while maintaining exceptional service standards in line with the company’s quality objectives. This role requires a strong understanding of insurance products, rating procedures, carrier operations, and regulatory requirements to effectively complete new business applications and renewal instructions.

In this position, the Commercial Account Manager will prepare proposals, complete applications in coordination with producers, submit documentation to appropriate carriers, and follow up to ensure timely receipt of quotations and policies. The manager will also handle policy issuance, premium calculation, billing invoices, endorsements, and cancellations with precision to avoid errors and omissions. Additionally, the manager is charged with maintaining organized files, expiration control logs, and correspondence follow-up to support efficient account management.

The role demands strong computer proficiency, especially with agency management systems and carrier rating platforms, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced office setting. Job Requirements

  • Property and casualty license as required by the state department of insurance
  • 2-4 years of previous account management experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • CPCU or CIC designations preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing-priority environment
  • Self-motivated and able to prioritize tasks independently
  • Strong PC skills and proficiency with agency management systems
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Regular and punctual attendance required

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Complete applications for new and renewal business accurately upon receipt of instructions
  • Prepare proposals and coordinate with producers to submit applications to carriers
  • Perform all necessary ratings for policy quotation and issuance on carrier websites or rating programs
  • Calculate premiums using company rating programs when available
  • Issue premium-bearing binders, invoices, and resolve carrier accounting discrepancies
  • Prepare binders, certificates, account summaries, endorsements, policies, and account status reports as requested
  • Deliver or mail items to clients and maintain follow-ups on outstanding orders, correspondence, audits, and reports
  • Request renewals, endorsements, and needed data from companies and insureds while soliciting internal assistance when necessary
  • Check new and renewal policies, endorsements, audits, and cancellations for accuracy and process transactions to generate billing invoices
  • Determine reasons for cancellations and act to save accounts while notifying producers
  • Process and follow up on cancellation requests to carriers
  • Receive client and company phone calls, complying with requests or referring to the appropriate team member
  • Refer clients to appropriate departments for other lines of business
  • Participate in training and seminars to maintain licenses and industry knowledge
  • Review client, company, and public interactions to avoid errors and omissions issues
