The role available at Nextech involves delivering the highest level of customer service, technical expertise, and quality across all service interactions. Responsibilities include installing, maintaining, and repairing standard commercial refrigeration units such as reach-in coolers and freezers, beverage dispensers, walk-in coolers and freezers, and rack units. The technician will diagnose and repair electronic, mechanical, and electrical components of commercial refrigeration systems while traveling to various job sites within the assigned service area.

This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with dispatchers to maintain schedules and effectively communicate delays to customers. Candidates should be prepared to work nights and weekends on a rotating basis to address emergency service needs, emphasizing the importance of flexibility in this role. Maintaining company vehicle cleanliness and organization is also part of the job scope, along with managing proper stock, parts, tools, and safety equipment.

Documenting service details and parts used via company-provided digital tools like cell phones or iPads is crucial for operational efficiency. Technicians must also follow all environmental regulations related to refrigerant handling and disposal in compliance with EPA guidelines. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in commercial refrigeration or HVAC service
  • EPA certification for refrigerant handling
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various environments
  • Strong communication skills
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Able to travel within assigned service areas
  • Commitment to safety and environmental regulations compliance

Job Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong interpersonal abilities
  • In-depth knowledge of refrigeration, electrical, and mechanical systems
  • Proficient in reading schematics, work plans, and using diagnostic tools, refrigerant recovery equipment, and specialized instruments
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Advanced understanding of air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration principles
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Highly dependable and consistent in delivering quality work

Job Duties

  • Provides the highest level of customer service, technical ability, and quality to our customers
  • Installs, maintains, and repairs most standard refrigeration units for commercial customers such as reach-in coolers and freezers, beverage dispensers, walk-in coolers and freezers and rack units
  • Diagnoses and repairs electronic, mechanical, and electrical components of the commercial refrigeration systems
  • Travels to job sites in assigned service area and works with assigned Dispatcher(s) to ensure schedule is maintained and delays are properly communicated to customers
  • Available to work nights and weekends on a rotating basis to address emergency service needs for customer
  • Maintains good working order of company vehicle, including cleaning and organizing, and washing vehicle a minimum of once per week
  • Maintains proper stock, parts, tools, and safety equipment upon arrival, including make, model, serial number, type of fuel, and pictures as necessary
  • Document details of services and parts provided to customers electronically through company-provided cell phone and/or iPad applications
  • Diagnoses a variety of service issues, obtains necessary replacement parts, calibrates systems according to manufacturer specifications, and clearly communicates the issue(s) and recommended solutions to the client
  • Participates in company-provided training opportunities and adheres to all safety policies and procedures
  • Identifies and reports potential opportunities for additional business to management
  • Follow all environmental regulations, including the handling and disposal of refrigerants, in accordance with EPA guidelines
  • Other related duties as assigned
