Job Description

General Produce is a leading wholesale produce distributor committed to delivering the freshest quality food products to Northern and Central California, Western Nevada, and Southern Oregon. Based out of their state-of-the-art Sacramento facility, General Produce has established itself as a trusted source for fresh fruits and vegetables, continuously expanding its reach, including exports to the Pacific Rim and Asia. The company emphasizes freshness and quality as non-negotiable standards, ensuring every client receives exemplary products that meet the highest levels of satisfaction. Their commitment extends beyond products to include outstanding customer service and community engagement, making them a preferred supplier in the wholesale produce industry.

The role of Commercial Delivery Driver at General Produce is pivotal in upholding the company's promise of excellence. This full-time position offers the opportunity to deliver quality food products within Modesto and surrounding areas, without the need for long-haul or over-the-road driving. This means drivers can enjoy the benefits of a stable daily schedule and the convenience of being home every day. Ideal candidates will have a valid California Class A Commercial Driver License with an air brake endorsement and a clean driving record adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) standards. The role includes not only driving but also aspects of customer service and logistics such as verifying orders, maintaining accurate delivery records, loading and unloading goods safely, and resolving any delivery issues.

Safety and professionalism are crucial, and drivers must be adept at handling the physical demands of the job, including lifting up to 50 pounds regularly, sitting for extended periods during drives, and performing routine vehicle maintenance checks. The use of smartphones and delivery apps for navigation and communication is required, highlighting the company’s commitment to utilizing technology to streamline operations. The position offers a competitive schedule with shifts ranging from 5 AM to 4 PM, days to be determined, allowing for flexibility within a structured workday.

General Produce values its employees and supports them with a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, a 401(k) plan, an employee assistance program, paid sick leave, holidays, vacation days, and an employee discount program. The company also fosters a supportive work environment with employee recognition events and annual incentives to reward outstanding performance.

This role is perfect for experienced commercial drivers who want to join a thriving company recognized for quality and service, who prefer regional routes without overnight stays, and who seek a career that offers both stability and growth potential within the wholesale produce distribution industry. Whether you have prior experience in produce or food distribution or are bringing valuable commercial driving expertise, this position provides a meaningful career path where your contributions directly impact the community’s access to fresh, quality food.
