The hotel's commitment to health and safety standards, as well as compliance with all relevant regulations, reflects a work environment dedicated to excellence and professionalism. As part of its operations, the hotel is currently seeking qualified individuals to join the team as Combo Porters, an on-call position essential for the smooth functioning of the bar services.
The Combo Porter role is critical in supporting the bartender by managing bar cleanliness, stocking supplies, preparing garnishes, and ensuring that all bar-related tasks are handled efficiently. The position operates on a rotating day and evening shift schedule, offering flexibility and an opportunity for those who thrive in dynamic hospitality environments. Compensation for this role ranges from $28.50 to $35.63 per hour, providing competitive pay reflective of the responsibilities involved. This role is non-exempt, emphasizing the importance of attendance, punctuality, and adherence to work schedules.
As a Combo Porter, you will be entrusted with a variety of duties aimed at facilitating the bartender's work and maintaining an inviting bar area for guests. Essential functions include receiving and verifying stock orders, cutting and preparing garnishes, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of the bar and storage areas in line with health codes, and assisting in the preparation and serving of drinks according to established recipes. The role also involves handling cash transactions responsibly, monitoring supply levels for bar necessities, and performing routine maintenance on beer and soda equipment. Working as a Combo Porter requires a strong sense of responsibility, attention to detail, and the ability to comply with liquor laws and internal policies.
Beyond food and beverage service, this position also involves general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products to ensure that the bar environment meets the highest cleanliness standards. The employee is expected to report any suspicious activities or unsafe conditions to the security department and participate in emergency safety procedures. The role offers a variety of duties, requiring flexibility and the willingness to assist with special guest requests and other assigned tasks.
Applicants for this role must possess a minimum of a high school diploma or GED, along with prior bar experience preferred but not mandatory. Certification of tuberculosis clearance is required, emphasizing the hotel's dedication to health and safety for both staff and guests. CPR and Standard First Aid certifications are preferred, enhancing the candidate's preparedness for emergency situations. Prospective employees must be able to obtain the Hawaii Liquor Commission (yellow) Card and successfully complete hazardous communication training (HAZCOM/MSDS), ensuring all regulatory and safety compliance requirements are met.
This on-call position offers individuals an excellent opportunity to develop their hospitality skills within a respected hotel environment. The flexible schedule suits those looking for part-time work with varying shifts, encompassing both day and evening hours. The hotel is an equal opportunity employer, fostering diversity and inclusion within its workforce by providing equal consideration to all qualified applicants regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other legally protected characteristic.
