Job Description
Gerber Collision & Glass is a leading company in the automotive collision repair and glass services industry, with a proud heritage spanning over 80 years. Recognized for its dedication to providing exceptional quality and customer service, Gerber Collision & Glass has built a reputation that underscores its commitment to excellence and continuous growth. As part of the larger Boyd Group, a prominent organization known for fostering inclusive work environments and valuing diverse perspectives, Gerber Collision & Glass emphasizes integrity, unique talent, and teamwork. The company actively encourages applications from qualified individuals of all backgrounds, including those with disabilities and protected veterans, underscoring its commitment to workforce diversity and equal opportunity employment.
Gerber Collision & Glass is currently seeking a Porter to join their dynamic team. This role is crucial in maintaining a high standard of service by ensuring vehicles are impeccably cleaned prior to delivery, thus complementing the quality repairs performed by the technical teams. The Porter also plays an important role in keeping the shop and office facilities orderly and clean, which supports efficient operations and enhances the overall customer experience. This is a full-time hourly position, with compensation ranging between $14 and $17 per hour, dependent on skill, education, and experience. Additional bonus opportunities are available, linked to individual and business performance initiatives.
In this role, the successful candidate will be expected to consistently execute the WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan, a cornerstone of Gerber's customer service philosophy. Responsibilities include both indoor and outdoor maintenance tasks like cleaning floors, dusting work areas, managing waste disposal, organizing tools and equipment, and ensuring the parking lots and grounds are presentable. Seasonal duties such as shoveling sidewalks to maintain safety are also part of the role. Additionally, the Porter will handle the careful pre-washing and post-repair cleaning of customer vehicles, and assist in transporting vehicles to sublet locations for specialized repairs.
This position demands physical stamina, attention to detail, and a positive attitude. It requires the ability to perform various physical activities such as pulling, pushing, lifting items up to 50 pounds, walking, standing for extended periods, and occasional stooping or kneeling. A valid driver's license and clear close vision are essential for this role to safely operate vehicles and perform the necessary tasks. While automotive experience is preferred, it is not mandatory, and the company supports individuals who are eager to learn and grow within the industry.
Gerber Collision & Glass offers a supportive and resource-rich environment designed to foster career growth and success. Employees benefit from comprehensive perks including immediate eligibility for medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug insurance, paid time off, paid parental leave, holiday pay, a 401(k) retirement plan with company matching, and employer-paid short-term disability and life insurance. Additional incentives such as continuing education opportunities, free safety glasses, uniform stipends, and a voluntary daily pay option exemplify the company’s dedication to its workforce. This environment supports those who are eager to contribute to a team built with intent and driven by individual and collective success, ensuring a fulfilling career path within the collision and glass services sector.
