The Barista position within the Coffee Shop department at Hy-Vee offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about coffee and customer service. Job Requirements

Less than high school education or equivalent experience
six months or less of similar or related work experience
ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions
ability to do simple addition and subtraction
possess the ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions
ability to work in a team environment
maintain professionalism and friendly demeanor
must be able to perform medium physical work including lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally
must have good vision, including color vision and depth perception
must be able to perform physical activities such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
must adhere to company policies and personal hygiene standards

Job Duties

Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service
smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner
makes an effort to learn customers’ names and address them by name
assists customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach products, handling heavy items, passing customer suggestions, enhancing shopping experience
answers telephone promptly and takes customer orders
takes customer orders at the counter
works with co-workers to ensure customer satisfaction and pleasant work environment
handles food safely and keeps work area clean
reviews food freshness and appearance
ensures adequate food supply and follows production list
anticipates product needs daily
prepares and replenishes product as necessary
checks in product, puts product away, may review invoices
runs department registers and handles payments where applicable
removes trash timely
maintains personal hygiene and dress code adherence
follows company policies and store guidelines
reports to work on time
