Job Requirements
- Less than high school education or equivalent experience
- Six months or less of similar or related work experience
- Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions
- Ability to do simple addition and subtraction
- Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions
- Must be able to perform medium work involving exertion up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Must have visual acuity including color vision and depth perception
- Must be able to perform physical activities such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
- Must adhere to company policies and individual store guidelines
- Must report to work on time
- Employment contingent on successful pre-employment drug screening
Job Qualifications
- Less than high school education or equivalent experience
- Six months or less of similar or related work experience
- Ability to provide courteous and efficient customer service
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Basic math skills including addition and subtraction
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to handle food safely and maintain cleanliness
Job Duties
- Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store
- Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee’s designated department or elsewhere in the store
- Makes an effort to learn customers’ names and to address them by name whenever possible
- Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach products, loading or unloading heavy items, passing along customer suggestions or requests, performing tasks to enhance shopping experience
- Answers the telephone promptly and provides friendly, helpful service including taking customer orders
- Takes customer orders at the counter
- Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and pleasant work environment
- Handles food safely and keeps work area clean and neat
- Reviews food freshness and ensures adequate food supply
- Anticipates daily product needs and prepares or replenishes product as necessary
- Checks in product, puts product away, and may review invoices
- Operates registers and processes payments where applicable
- Removes trash timely
- Maintains adherence to personal hygiene and dress guidelines
- Reports to work scheduled and on time
