Job Description
Omni Providence Hotel is a distinguished landmark hotel located in the vibrant city of Providence, Rhode Island. It is uniquely positioned adjacent to the Rhode Island Convention Center, Amica Mutual Pavilion, and the Providence Place Mall, placing guests within walking distance to a variety of local attractions, historic sites, and renowned dining establishments. As a premier convention hotel, Omni Providence combines the convenience of an ideal location with exceptional services, making it a top choice for visitors and business travelers alike. The hotel’s commitment to excellence is evident not only in its facilities but also in its dedicated team of associates who contribute to an extraordinary guest experience that distinguishes the property from other hotels in the region.
Omni Providence fosters a collaborative and enriching work culture that supports the professional growth and development of its staff. This environment promotes learning and career progression within the hospitality industry, emphasizing internal promotions as a vital part of its corporate philosophy. This approach ensures that each associate builds a strong foundation in hospitality, supported by a diverse workforce hailing from many different countries, which enriches the workplace culture and broadens perspectives on both a professional and personal level. This diversity and commitment to associate development create a welcoming and stimulating work atmosphere. Although the hotel offers a comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees, the greatest advantage offered is the opportunity for growth and advancement within the company.
The position available at Omni Providence is central to maintaining the high standards of service expected by guests and management. This role involves various responsibilities including maintaining regular attendance aligned with Omni’s scheduling needs, upholding impeccable personal appearance standards, and ensuring the smooth operation of the assigned outlet by managing opening and closing duties effectively. The associate will be responsible for sourcing food and beverage items from storage, managing inventory, and preparing quality products such as espresso-based drinks, breakfast pastries, sandwiches, and lunch fare. Strong attention to detail and inventory control are essential as the position requires maintaining shift cash banks and alerting management to ordering needs or shortages.
In addition to operational functions, the role includes maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of the work area and nearby seating spaces, following up on daily projects to ensure completion, and assisting with physical inventory checks when necessary. Knowledge of hotel property amenities, daily events, and activities is also important to provide accurate information and a positive guest experience. This position demands physical stamina due to the necessity of standing for extended periods and the ability to lift items up to 50 pounds. Working conditions primarily involve indoor hotel retail environments with occasional tasks performed in storage or loading dock areas. The use of various tools and equipment such as computers, printers, telephones, coffee and espresso machines, ovens, Point of Sale systems like Micros and Simphony, Microsoft Office programs, and cleaning supplies is also part of daily duties.
Omni Providence Hotel is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity, inclusion, and providing assistance for applicants requiring special accommodations. The employment opportunity ensures non-discrimination in compensation and hiring practices, reflecting the company’s core values of fairness and respect. This role at Omni Providence is an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking a dynamic, inclusive workplace in the hospitality industry with room for career growth and professional development.
