The Grocery Supervisor role at Albertsons is a critical position within the retail store environment, responsible for overseeing grocery department functions including grocery, dairy, and frozen goods. This role involves managing and coaching grocery associates, ensuring that performance standards are met and customer service remains excellent. The Grocery Supervisor will also support store leadership by supervising the store in the absence of the Store Director or Assistant Store Director. This position requires working in a fast-paced environment that includes various physical demands such as exposure to cold temperatures in cooler and freezer areas along with handling sharp knives and cleaning chemicals.

This role demands exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to multitask in a dynamic retail environment. The supervisor is required to maintain compliance with government and company regulations, prioritize customer satisfaction, and manage store operations efficiently. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary to train, coach, and supervise teams effectively. The Grocery Supervisor must be flexible in working hours, including the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays. Job Requirements

  • Must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with multiple variables as they are presented
  • Must have the ability to do simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording
  • Must be able to understand and follow written, verbal or demonstrated instructions, write identifying information, and request supplies orally or in writing
  • Visual requirements include clarity of vision at a distance of less than 20 inches to less than 20 feet, with color vision and depth perception
  • Must be able to read the descriptions on the boxes and shelf tags to order product and place merchandise in the proper locations
  • Must be able to work shifts varying in length and times, including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Must be able to work in cold environments, handling products in coolers and freezers
  • Must be able to use and handle sharp knives safely

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior supervisory experience in retail or grocery
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Basic math skills including addition and subtraction
  • Experience working with inventory and product placement
  • Skilled in problem-solving and multitasking
