Job Description
Sheraton Hotels & Resorts, part of Marriott International, is a globally recognized hospitality brand dedicated to providing exceptional experiences to guests across more than 400 communities worldwide. Established in 1937, Sheraton offers a welcoming environment where employees create a sense of belonging and connection. Marriott International is committed to equal employment opportunities, valuing the diverse backgrounds, talents, and experiences of its associates, and ensuring an inclusive workplace free from discrimination based on disability, veteran status, or other legally protected characteristics.
Located in Kansas City, Missouri, the Sheraton property at 2345 McGee St is seeking a dedicated Food and Beverage Team Member to join their team. This is a part-time, non-management position with a pay rate of $16.74 per hour. The role primarily involves supporting the day-to-day operations of the hotel’s food and beverage services, including handling orders, preparing food and coffee, managing cash transactions, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in work areas. This position requires weekend availability and a preference for day shift work.
The responsibilities include opening and closing duties such as organizing provisions and tools, cleaning equipment and areas, securing doors, taking and entering orders into the MICROS system, preparing food and beverages, and ensuring all appliances are operated at appropriate times. Maintaining cleanliness throughout the shift in all areas including tables, utensils, workspaces, and equipment is also central to the position. Additionally, the role includes cash handling duties like securing the cash register, completing cashier reports, resolving discrepancies, and managing transactions with accuracy.
The position demands adherence to company safety policies and procedures, reporting any maintenance issues or safety hazards, completing all required safety training and certifications, and maintaining professional appearance and behavior. Employees are expected to support team goals, treat coworkers with respect and dignity, uphold quality assurance standards, and protect company assets and confidential information.
Physically, the job requires handling objects weighing up to 25 pounds independently, frequent standing, sitting, or walking throughout the shift, and the ability to perform tasks that involve reaching, bending, twisting, climbing stairs, and navigating confined or elevated spaces. Strong communication skills, both verbal and telephonic, and the ability to interact with guests and colleagues in a professional manner are essential to success in this role.
No prior specific experience or supervisory experience is required, and there is no mandatory certification. A high school diploma or equivalent such as a GED is preferred but not required. This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to start or grow their career in hospitality, especially within a prestigious global brand focused on inclusive excellence and guest-centered service. Joining Sheraton means becoming part of a worldwide community where the mission is "The meeting place of the world," and where the employee is encouraged to bring their best self to work and fulfill their purpose while contributing to a supportive and diverse team environment.
