The Food and Beverage team at Moana Surfrider is integral to the guest experience, delivering attentive dining service in a variety of elegant settings. This role is a part-time, non-management Food and Beverage Server position, offering a competitive pay range of $16.00 to $17.38 per hour with tip eligibility. The position requires candidates who are enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and passionate about hospitality, with at least one year of related experience preferred.

As a Food and Beverage Server, the incumbent will be responsible for serving food courses and alcoholic beverages to guests in accordance with the service standards of the resort. They will set tables appropriately for different types of events and dining occasions, answer menu-related questions, and effectively communicate between guests and kitchen staff. It is critical for this role to ensure the accuracy of orders, accommodate special dietary needs, and provide attentive follow-up with guests to confirm satisfaction with each course and beverage served. The Server will also maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, uphold safety and security policies, and follow strict protocols for processing transactions using the MICROS system.

In addition to serving duties, the role requires excellent communication skills to interact professionally with guests and coworkers alike, developing positive working relationships and supporting team goals. Physical stamina is also necessary, as the position involves standing, walking, lifting, and moving objects throughout the shift. The work environment includes navigating slippery or uneven surfaces and requires agility to reach, bend, twist, and perform tasks efficiently.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • at least 1 year of related work experience
  • ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods
  • ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance
  • ability to move objects over 50 pounds with assistance
  • ability to perform physical tasks including reaching, bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping
  • willingness to follow safety, security policies, and procedures
  • ability to work part-time hours

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Serve food courses and alcoholic beverages to guests
  • set tables according to type of event and service standards
  • answer questions on menu selections
  • communicate with the kitchen regarding menu questions, wait times, re-cook orders, and product availability
  • communicate additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs, and special requests to the kitchen
  • record transactions in MICROS system at time of order
  • check in with guests to ensure satisfaction with each food course and/or beverages
  • maintain cleanliness of work areas, china, glass, throughout the day
  • complete closing duties including restocking items and turning off lights
  • present accurate check to guests and process payment
