The role of Server at HMSHost is vital to providing an excellent dining experience for guests. Servers are primarily responsible for taking food and beverage orders, entering them accurately and efficiently, and ensuring timely delivery of the service. They act as a liaison between the kitchen staff and customers to maintain smooth operations and uphold high standards of food quality and service. The Server position is non-exempt and typically reports to the Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager, or General Manager, depending on local management structures.

Servers at HMSHost are expected to engage with guests in a friendly and professional manner, ensuring that all dining needs are met promptly. This includes maintaining table appearance by pre-bussing, replenishing drink levels, removing clutter, and providing additional napkins or utensils as needed. Additionally, Servers present checks for payment and handle transactions in accordance with company cash handling policies. They must be observant and proactive in responding to guest requests and ensuring complete satisfaction. This role also involves maintaining cleanliness and organization of the station and work area by setting up and breaking down tables appropriately.

This position requires the ability to work in a physically active environment, including walking, standing, bending, and occasionally lifting items up to 20 pounds. Servers must meet the minimum state age for serving alcohol and have at least six months of relevant experience, ideally in high-volume or fast-casual dining environments. Strong communication skills, the ability to follow instructions, and a customer-oriented attitude are essential.
