Job Description
Silver Diner Development LLC is a renowned dining establishment recognized as one of the 'most diverse places to work' by The Washington Post and rated among the '20 full-service restaurants to watch' by Full Service Restaurant magazine. It also proudly received the TDn2K Best Practices Award in 2020 for the family dining category. As a leader in the casual dining segment, Silver Diner stands out with its award-winning fresh and local menu, featuring surprising flexitarian and healthy options that bridge the gap between traditional sit-down restaurants and uninspired fast food. The company is deeply committed to sourcing ingredients of the highest quality through direct partnerships with over 15 local farms that specialize in organic and sustainable agriculture. Silver Diner fosters a warm, welcoming environment not only for guests but also for its staff, embracing hospitality with genuine care and friendliness.
The company champions a culture where its people are its most valuable resource. Silver Diner believes that the success of the business is directly tied to the success of its people as professionals and as individuals. This dedication is reflected in its industry-leading internal promotion rates, with over 60 percent of managers and 100 percent of general managers and area directors having been promoted from within. Its mission statement, 'To be the best we can be,' exemplifies its relentless pursuit of excellence in product, people, guests, and growth.
Silver Diner is currently seeking contagiously friendly, warm-spirited, and energetic individuals to join its kitchen team as line cooks. This position is ideal for those passionate about hospitality and interested in developing a career in culinary arts. Under the guidance of award-winning Executive Chef Ype Von Hengst, line cooks will prepare visually impressive dishes crafted by innovative recipes and stay at the forefront of the latest food trends. The role offers a wonderful opportunity to learn about flavor profiles, global culinary trends, and various kitchen stations.
The position requires availability on weekends and holidays and encourages growth through the company's hat development program, which offers a clear career development ladder. Employees can advance by learning new culinary skills and moving up to become trainers, supervisors, and managers. Working at Silver Diner means being part of one of the busiest restaurants in the United States while growing with a market leader in the popular category of conceptual dining.
Silver Diner also offers competitive benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401K plan, and an Employee Assistance Program, alongside meal discounts and additional perks such as gym membership discounts and discounts on work shoes. This is a fantastic opportunity for those seeking not just a job, but a promising career path in the culinary and hospitality industry.
