Job Description
This opportunity is with a precision machining company specializing in CNC Vertical Mill operations, dedicated to manufacturing high-quality products that meet stringent customer specifications. The company operates in the manufacturing sector with a focus on precision engineering and advanced CNC machining technology. Known for its commitment to quality, safety, and efficiency, the company maintains certifications such as ISO9001:2008 and ISO13485:2003, demonstrating its adherence to industry standards and regulatory compliance. The work environment is dynamic and involves cooperation among team members to achieve common production and quality objectives, emphasizing professional interaction and strategic planning within departments.
The position available is for a CNC Vertical Mill Machinist II, a role critical in the machining process to ensure product quality and operational excellence. This role requires operation and light setup of CNC vertical milling machines, involving the selection and installation of tooling, updating fixturing, and pulling CNC machining programs to execute precise manufacturing processes. The machinist works closely with the Production Supervisor to receive daily instructions and plan their workday using a specialized Shop Floor Control System. Responsibilities also include setting up and operating 3 to 5 axis milling centers, optimizing feeds and speeds for maximum efficiency, and performing minor preventative maintenance to keep equipment in excellent working condition. Importantly, the role also encompasses responsibility for quality assurance checks, verifying parts with the correct gauges to meet blueprint specifications, and deburring work in process.
The role requires interaction with other team members and departments, supporting training functions for operators, new hires, and apprentices to ensure skill development and adherence to best manufacturing practices. Safety compliance is paramount, including following OSHA regulations, practicing all personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and maintaining a clean, neat, and safe work environment. The machinist must ensure that all company procedures and machine practices are consistently followed to meet production goals and maintain high standards of workplace safety and quality compliance.
Extensive experience in CNC programming, G and M code proficiency, and knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T, and inspection practices are essential for success in this role. The machinist must demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot manufacturing problems and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Physical demands include visual acuity for reading precise instruments and blueprints, hearing ability to monitor machine sounds, strength and stamina to handle equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, and the agility to perform various physical tasks required by the job environment, which includes exposure to noise, moving machine parts, and industrial fumes.
