Job Description

Northern Nevada Medical Center is a well-regarded acute care hospital situated in Sparks, Nevada. With 124 beds spread across a 23-acre hillside campus located at 2375 E. Prater Way, it has established a reputation for delivering quality healthcare services within a comfortable and accessible environment. The hospital’s capacity and location allow it to serve thousands of patients each year, making it a vital part of the local healthcare infrastructure. As a key healthcare provider, Northern Nevada Medical Center is committed to patient-centered, compassionate care and focuses on improving the wellbeing of the community it serves. It operates under the umbrella of Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS), one of the nation’s largest and most respected providers of hospital and healthcare services with a presence across the United States and internationally. UHS has been recognized as one of the World’s Most Admired Companies and is listed among America’s Largest Public Companies, affirming its strong leadership and stable growth in the healthcare industry.

The current opportunity is for a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)/Patient Care Technician at Northern Nevada Medical Center. This is a full-time role specifically designed for candidates who are interested in working the night shift, combining a stable schedule with rewarding duties. The CNA/Patient Care Tech will provide safe, competent nursing assistant care and professional support to the healthcare team in an acute care setting. This role places a strong emphasis on the principles of Patient Centered Care, meaning that the CNA will not only attend to patients’ physical needs but also consider their emotional, psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural needs. The hospital expects all CNAs and Patient Care Techs to embody Service Excellence standards throughout their shift.

The role involves vital day-to-day tasks such as conducting bedside shift reports directly in the patient’s room and maintaining clear communication by updating the patient’s care team information on communication boards. The selected candidate will work closely with Supervising Registered Nurses (RN) to receive delegated tasks and ensure seamless service delivery. Patient safety is paramount; therefore, CNAs must strictly follow facility policies around safety, including environment safety, equipment use, and radiation and fire prevention.

Additional responsibilities include adhering to fall precautions by assisting patients with toileting and activities of daily living (ADL) care without leaving patients unattended. The role calls for a CNA who is capable of providing empathetic care while remaining vigilant and responsive to patients' needs at all times. Working in this position is both challenging and rewarding, as CNAs contribute directly to patient recovery and comfort in a highly dynamic healthcare environment. With competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package, this role offers significant career development opportunities not only within Northern Nevada Medical Center but also through UHS and its extensive network of subsidiaries.
