Job Description
Avalign Technologies is a leading precision manufacturing company specializing in advanced medical device components and assemblies. With a commitment to quality and innovation, Avalign Technologies serves a global market with cutting-edge solutions, ensuring the highest standards of precision and reliability in medical technology. As a trusted partner in the healthcare industry, Avalign emphasizes a collaborative and professional work environment that fosters continuous improvement and technical excellence.
We are currently seeking a skilled CMM Programmer to join our quality assurance team. This role involves creating and updating Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programs essential for part-specific receiving inspections, in-process inspections, and final inspections. The successful candidate will expertly utilize various precision measuring instruments, including comparators, vision systems, micrometers, and functional gages. This position requires strong technical abilities combined with excellent communication skills to maintain cohesive teamwork across departments.
The CMM Programmer will interpret engineering drawings and models to develop accurate CMM programs tailored to part measurement needs. In cases where no datums are specified, the programmer will formulate effective measurement schemes based on thorough examination of parts and drawings. Additionally, this role involves ensuring materials and products meet print specifications and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities include creating new, part-specific CMM programs and updating existing ones, measuring parts with appropriate inspection tools such as optical comparators, micrometers, and calipers, and inspecting products for compliance with internal and external standards. The role also encompasses recording detailed test data and generating technical reports like First Article Inspection (FAI), Capability Studies, and Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (Gage R&R).
The CMM Programmer is expected to identify and segregate nonconforming products, initiate nonconforming material reports following internal procedures, and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the metrology lab. Additional duties include assisting production and quality associates as a technical expert, collaborating with quality engineers and management to interpret standards, and contributing to inspection plan and gage design discussions for new product introductions.
This position offers exposure to programming other inspection equipment such as Starrett Comparators, SmartScope, and Keyence systems following training. The role may also act as CAPA Owner for metrology-related corrective actions, reflecting a leadership aspect in quality assurance processes.
This full-time role demands a candidate with at least two years of experience in CMM programming, the ability to read and interpret blueprints with strong knowledge of GD&T and inspection methods, and familiarity with quality standards such as ISO-13485 and regulatory requirements like 21CFR820. Effective communication skills and a professional demeanor are essential to succeed in this dynamic environment.
