The organization prioritizes collaborative, evidence-based medicine to deliver the highest quality of care to its patients, reflecting a deep commitment to community health and well-being. Wilmington Health’s extensive network and patient-centered philosophy enable it to provide healthcare services that are coordinated, effective, and accessible, adhering to the latest medical standards and practices.

The Medical Assistant role at Wilmington Health is essential to the smooth operation of medical offices and the delivery of patient care. This position involves administering nursing care under the direction of physicians, advanced clinical providers, registered nurses, or supervising managers. Tasks include preparing patients for examinations, assisting with procedures, administering injections and medications, dressing wounds, collecting and maintaining patient data using Electronic Medical Records (EMR), and conducting specified laboratory tests. The role also entails supporting administrative functions such as reception duties, communication with insurance companies, and managing prescription calls and faxes.

The Medical Assistant not only supports clinical tasks but also plays a vital role in patient education, ensuring that patients understand their medications and treatment plans. This role demands strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team members. Wilmington Health values competencies such as customer service, professionalism, teamwork, dependability, and judgment, all of which are critical for thriving in this role.

The position is designed for an individual who holds an active Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification from an accredited association. Candidates must have successfully completed an accredited Associate’s Degree program in Medical Assisting or an accredited CMA program. Although clinical experience is preferred, Wilmington Health provides an environment conducive to professional growth and learning. The role requires physical stamina to stand and walk continuously while performing duties and occasional lifting and kneeling.
