The Clubhouse Bartender role at Bellerive Country Club is an essential position within the food and beverage team. This seasonal job involves preparing, pouring, and serving both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to Members and guests in a professional and courteous manner. The ideal candidate will bring a deep knowledge of mixology, including an understanding of beverage recipes, food and wine pairings, and sophisticated wine presentation techniques. This role demands excellent interpersonal skills, keen attention to detail, and a strong sense of responsibility, as it requires adherence to all legal requirements and Bellerive policies regarding alcohol service and safety standards.
Bartenders at Bellerive are tasked with ensuring that the bar area is well-maintained, clean, and efficiently operated throughout their shift. They perform pre-opening and closing procedures and manage inventory with precision to ensure that the Club’s bar offerings meet the high expectations of Members and guests. On busy days, the Bartender must skillfully manage multiple drink orders while maintaining a positive and inviting atmosphere. The ability to handle complaints courteously and escalate issues to management when necessary is also critical to the role.
Candidates for this Bartender position must be professional, able to communicate effectively in English, and demonstrate a capacity for multitasking under pressure. The role requires physical stamina, including standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 pounds safely. Job Requirements
- Ability to responsibly refuse or slow alcoholic service when necessary
- ability to comply with safety and sanitation standards
- basic proficiency in Bellerive’s POS system or similar POS systems
- ability to read and understand Banquet Event Orders (BEO)
- strong management, multitasking, and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
- professionalism and interpersonal skills to work effectively with employees and Members
- clear and fluent communication in English
- ability to handle sensitive issues with discretion and sound judgment
- ability to travel as required or necessary
- physical ability to perform essential functions, including standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 pounds
Job Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality or related field preferred
- minimum one year bartending experience required
- prior private club experience preferred
- alcohol beverage and food safety certification required
- hepatitis A vaccination required per St. Louis County regulations
- must be of legal age to serve alcoholic beverages
Job Duties
- Inspect and stock the bar before opening
- monitor inventory and request supplies as needed
- prepare garnishes, fruit mixes, and pre-mixed drinks according to set-up procedures
- greet Members and guests professionally
- prepare, mix, and serve drinks following approved recipes
- record and collect payments accurately
- report Member or guest complaints promptly to management
- clean and secure the bar according to closing procedures
- ensure proper storage, labeling, dating, and rotation of all food and beverage items
- attend staff meetings, pre-shift line-ups, and training sessions
- follow all laws and Bellerive policies regarding alcoholic service
- practice beverage and revenue control procedures consistently
- perform additional duties as assigned by the Bar Manager or other leadership team members
