Job Description

Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is a vital organization dedicated to supporting and enriching the quality of life for Marines, their families, and others within the Marine Corps Community. MCCS operates a comprehensive program that includes a diverse team of military personnel, civilian employees, contractors, and volunteers all working collectively to ensure seamless and effective organizational functioning. The core mission of MCCS is deeply rooted in service-oriented values, unwaveringly committed to the Marine Corps and the broader community it serves. This dedication is reflected daily in its operations and initiatives, which aim to enhance morale, welfare, and recreational opportunities for Marines and their families, facilitating a supportive environment that fosters resilience and readiness within the Corps.

The role being offered is based at Camp Pendleton, CA, within the MCCS framework, where the selected candidate will assume the position of Club Manager NF4. This position entails overseeing the daily operations of an event venue, including food production and catering contract services, ensuring that the venue runs smoothly and efficiently to meet the needs of its patrons. The manager will collaborate closely with the Food and Beverage Program Manager and other team members to establish competitive pricing, manage events, and promote services effectively. The position demands a high level of organizational skill to coordinate multiple activities such as catering, banquets, social functions, and marketing initiatives aimed at increasing venue usage and satisfaction.

In addition to operational management, the Club Manager serves as a Contracting Officer's Representative (COR), responsible for various functions related to catering and entertainment contracts. This includes handling pre-award and post-award tasks, maintaining contract integrity, ensuring compliance with procurement procedures, and auditing financial records linked to contract performance. The role requires astute financial management skills, including preparing financial reports related to sales, expenses, labor costs, and profitability, all within approved budgets. Supervisory duties include directing the work of subordinate supervisors and employees, ensuring adherence to established performance standards, and promoting a productive, safe, and respectful work environment.

Customer service excellence is a pivotal aspect of the role, requiring the manager to set and maintain high standards for service quality, address customer feedback proactively, and foster a courteous and welcoming atmosphere. The successful candidate will uphold military and civilian protocols meticulously, liaise with leadership at various levels, and support equal employment opportunity policies and workplace safety. This role not only demands expertise in hospitality management but also a strong commitment to community values that align with the Marine Corps ethos.

Candidates chosen for this position will benefit from a robust package of employee benefits including a 401(k) plan with employer matching, a NAF pension plan, comprehensive medical and dental coverage, life insurance, flexible spending accounts, short and long-term disability insurance, tuition assistance up to the graduate level, and generous leave policies. MCCS promotes an inclusive work environment and is dedicated to providing reasonable accommodations for applicants with disabilities. This position is a white-collar role with occasional lifting requirements, highlighting the balanced physical and administrative responsibilities it entails. Overall, this opportunity offers a meaningful career path within a respected organization committed to the welfare of the Marine community and its members.
