The role available at Club Louie's is for a skilled Cook, a key position within the kitchen team dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of food quality and safety. This part-time position offers hourly pay ranging from $22.00 to $24.00 and requires availability for both AM and PM shifts, making it ideal for individuals who thrive in dynamic, fast-paced settings. The Cook will be responsible for preparing food items according to guest orders, adhering strictly to recipe cards and food preparation standards set by the hotel. In this role, the Cook will engage in various cooking tasks, including proper handling and cooking of proteins like meat and fish to exact temperatures, showcasing strong knife skills and butchery knowledge. The position involves utilizing and maintaining a wide range of kitchen equipment such as deep fryers, broilers, stoves, steamers, mixers, slicers, ovens, steam tables, tilt kettles, waffle irons, and flat top grills. Safety, sanitation, and organization are critical, with the Cook expected to keep their workstation clean, restock items as needed, and contribute to the overall cleanliness and efficiency of the kitchen.

Beyond day-to-day food preparation, the Cook will also support banquet services by preparing food according to Banquet Event Orders, ensuring that every event is catered with precision and professionalism. This role requires multitasking abilities to handle high-volume periods without sacrificing quality or productivity. Physical stamina is necessary, as the job involves lifting up to 50 pounds, frequent bending and stooping, and working long hours around intense heat sources such as grills and ovens.

Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum 4 years of professional kitchen experience
  • valid California Food Handler's Card
  • ability to work morning and evening shifts
  • ability to stand for extended periods
  • physical ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
  • ability to bend and stoop regularly
  • knowledge of kitchen safety and sanitation practices

Job Qualifications

  • 4+ years of professional kitchen experience
  • expertise in cooking proteins to precise temperatures
  • strong knife skills, butchery knowledge, and recipe adherence
  • valid California Food Handler's Card

Job Duties

  • maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming which include wearing the proper uniform
  • have thorough knowledge of menus and the preparation required according to hotel standards
  • comply with certification requirements as applicable to the position including food handlers safety
  • prepare food items according to guest orders of consistent quality following recipe cards, as well as production, portion, and presentation standards
  • start food items that are prepared ahead of time, making sure not to prepare beyond estimated needs
  • maintain post on kitchen line as required during operating hours in order to prepare food to order maintaining the highest standards of efficiency, productivity, and quality
  • prepare food for banquets as required following specifications of banquet event orders
  • operate, maintain, and properly clean kitchen equipment including deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven, steam table, tilt kettle, waffle iron, and flat top grill
  • clean and maintain station in practicing good safety and sanitation
  • assist with the cleaning and organization of the kitchen and equipment
  • restock items as needed throughout the shift
  • practice safe work habits at all times to avoid possible injury to self or other associates
