Job Description

Delaware North Sportservice is a prominent hospitality company that operates concessions, premium dining, and retail services at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. Established in 2000, Delaware North has provided outstanding food and beverage experiences at this iconic 18,500-seat venue, home to the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets, as well as various concerts and special events. The company is known for its commitment to quality service, offering a wide range of menu options that include traditional arena fare such as hot dogs, pretzels, popcorn, and a diverse selection of beers, featuring local breweries from Ohio. Delaware North is a family-owned business with over 100 years of history and global operations, making it a leader within the hospitality and food service industries. It values its employees as vital members of a larger team and fosters a culture of growth, learning, and career advancement.

The role being offered is a part-time Food Runner position based at Nationwide Arena. The Food Runner plays a crucial part in the hospitality service team by ensuring food orders are expedited efficiently from the kitchen to the guests. This role demands speed, accuracy, and exceptional communication, as the Food Runner collaborates closely with chefs, kitchen staff, and servers to maintain a seamless food service flow. The position includes opportunities for hands-on training and mentorship, making it ideal for individuals looking to enhance their skills in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment. Although the minimum hourly pay is $15.00, this position is tipped, meaning employees have the potential to increase their earnings significantly through gratuities.

As a Food Runner, individuals will be expected to attend pre-shift briefings, work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, and manage multiple food orders with care and professionalism. This role also involves some table-side service such as taking and delivering orders and explaining menu items to guests when required. An essential part of this job includes maintaining comprehensive knowledge of all menu items, ingredients, and presentation standards to elevate the guest experience. Physical demands include constant standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 35 pounds as part of setting up and cleaning duties. This dynamic environment is perfect for candidates who enjoy engaging with guests and team members alike, work well under pressure, and wish to develop a career in hospitality.

Delaware North cares deeply about the personal and professional well-being of its team members. Benefits for all employees include weekly pay, training and development opportunities, employee discounts, and flexible work schedules. Eligible team members may also access health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) plans with company matching, paid vacation and holidays, paid parental leave, employee assistance programs, and tuition or professional certification reimbursement. This comprehensive benefits package reflects Delaware North’s commitment to supporting employee success and satisfaction. The company ensures an inclusive workplace culture where diversity is celebrated and equal opportunity is provided to all applicants regardless of background or characteristics. Joining Delaware North means becoming part of a global legacy with access to exciting career paths across sports arenas, national parks, casinos, hotels, retail, and more. Whether seeking part-time or full-time work, Delaware North fosters an environment where employees can thrive and achieve their career goals while delivering memorable guest experiences.
