As a dedicated team of professionals, Subway Headquarters plays a critical role in driving franchisee profitability, strengthening the brand, and creating long-term value in a rapidly evolving marketplace. With a focus on growth and innovation, Subway has established itself as a trusted name, not only by the millions of customers it serves daily but also by its vast network of franchisees and employees worldwide.
The role of the Cloud Engineer - Database at Subway is an exciting opportunity for professionals who are passionate about cloud technologies and database management. This position is integral to administering and optimizing Subway's cloud database platforms across Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure environments. The Cloud Database Engineer will be responsible for provisioning and managing both relational and non-relational database services, ensuring that data systems are highly available, secure, and disaster recovery-ready. This role requires deep technical expertise as well as the ability to collaborate closely with application development, cloud engineering, and architecture teams to support Subway's robust and scalable data infrastructure.
The person in this role will play a pivotal part in designing and implementing high-availability configurations, monitoring database performance, and optimizing queries and indexes to enhance system efficiency. Security is a top priority, and the engineer will enforce stringent database security standards, including encryption, access control, and audit logging. The role also entails managing backup, restoration, and disaster recovery testing procedures to safeguard data integrity and availability. In addition, the Cloud Database Engineer will develop and maintain detailed documentation, runbooks, and change management processes to ensure operational excellence. The successful candidate will engage with emerging cloud database technologies, providing informed recommendations to continuously improve Subway's platforms. Furthermore, this individual will coach colleagues regarding best practices in Active Directory management and vulnerability remediation.
This position offers the chance to contribute to a global, industry-leading brand, where innovation meets impact. It requires a proactive, action-oriented mindset with accountability and the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-standard environment. Subway values teamwork and celebrates achievements while pushing to build something better every day. If you are ready to take ownership of your work, make a significant impact on a global scale, and join a company that supports your professional growth, this role is an ideal fit. The Cloud Engineer - Database position is based in the USA, reports to the Director of Cloud Engineering and Database, and involves global responsibilities with minimal travel requirements. This is a chance to be part of Subway's next chapter, shaping the future of data infrastructure and cloud services in one of the world's most iconic companies.
