As a part of the broader Optum Care network, Optum NM operates in Albuquerque, NM, providing comprehensive healthcare services with a strong focus on quality, affordability, and improved patient outcomes. The organization is clinician-led and supports its medical professionals with robust clinical resources, data, and the backing of a global structure, allowing healthcare providers to deliver exceptional care while advancing their own careers. Optum fosters a culture of caring, connection, and professional growth, empowering its employees to balance a rewarding career with a fulfilling personal life. This commitment to both patient care and employee well-being makes Optum NM a leading workplace in the healthcare sector.
The Clinician Team Lead - Clinical Informatics at Optum NM is a critical leadership role within the clinic team. This position involves providing both clinical care and administrative oversight, bridging frontline patient care with health information technology to optimize workflows and improve clinical outcomes. The role requires a dynamic leader who can drive quality improvement initiatives, support patient safety, and facilitate the adoption of clinical informatics tools such as electronic health records (EHR) optimizations, clinical decision supports, and emerging digital technologies including AI applications. The Team Lead collaborates closely with the Associate Medical Director and operational partners to ensure the clinic’s success in meeting its financial, quality, and patient satisfaction goals.
Clinically, the Team Lead continues to provide care to patients in outpatient primary care settings, using evidence-based practices aligned with the organization’s patient-centered mission. Administratively, the Team Lead dedicates approximately four hours per week to leadership functions including supervising clinician team members with responsibilities such as managing time-off requests, continuing medical education (CME) activities, license reviews, and clinician performance evaluations. The role also entails participation in quality meetings, development of improvement plans, and solving workflow inefficiencies by translating clinical needs into actionable technical solutions. Moreover, the Clinician Team Lead is accountable for achieving and improving quality metrics such as STAR ratings, HEDIS scores, and patient experience indicators like CAHPS and HOS.
The ideal candidate for this position will be a board-certified or eligible advanced practice clinician with at least two years of outpatient primary care experience as well as demonstrated leadership potential or prior management experience. This role requires knowledge in medical utilization management, quality assurance, risk management, and compliance, alongside strong communication and collaborative skills. Clinical informatics expertise is essential, with experience leading clinical IT initiatives including EHR workflow and tool optimization. Optum NM offers a competitive salary range of $110,000 to $166,500 per year, based on experience and performance metrics, complemented by an extensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and employee incentive programs. Joining Optum NM means contributing to health care innovation while advancing your career in a supportive and inclusive environment committed to diversity and equal opportunity.
