The role of Clinical Nurse B in the Emergency Department (ED) at LUMC-Murrieta is a full-time position offering a $1500 shift and may be eligible for a $9,000 sign-on bonus. This position involves providing expert nursing care in a fast-paced emergency setting. The nurse is responsible for performing comprehensive nursing processes including assessment, care planning, intervention, and evaluation with minimal supervision. They treat patients with a wide range of illnesses, diseases, and injuries of varying severity and complexity. This role requires rapid assessment and stabilization of patients with life-threatening conditions while making sound decisions to prioritize and balance each patient’s unique needs.

The Emergency Department Clinical Nurse B functions according to the Professional Practice Model, Duffy's Quality Caring Theory, ensuring quality, developmentally appropriate, and safe care. The nurse collaborates closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals across multiple service lines and assists in both common and complex procedures. The position demands flexibility and the ability to manage several cases simultaneously under pressure, especially during community emergencies, catastrophic incidents, or mass casualty events. The nurse receives patients transported by land and air ambulances, those affected by mass casualty events, and walk-in patients, demonstrating confidence and competence in handling diverse emergency situations.

Additionally, the role entails applying knowledge of emergency and trauma regulations such as EMTALA and compliance with state and federal hospital regulations. The Clinical Nurse B contributes to nursing excellence by embracing continuous learning and adopting new innovations to enhance patient outcomes and experiences. They exhibit exceptional interpersonal skills to maximize patient satisfaction and promote a cooperative work environment among a culturally diverse staff and patient population.
