Job Description

LabCorp is currently seeking a Clinical Lab Professional to join the team at Ascension St. Vincent's Riverside in Jacksonville, FL. This position operates on the 1st shift and includes a $5,000 sign-on bonus available to external candidates only. As a Clinical Lab Professional, you will be an integral part of a high-volume, production-based clinical laboratory environment. Your role will involve conducting complex and routine laboratory tests that are essential to patient diagnosis and care. You will be responsible for evaluating specimen acceptability, performing technical procedures according to departmental standards, troubleshooting instruments to ensure proper function, and ensuring accuracy in laboratory results.
In this role, attention to detail and adherence to quality control measures are critical as you prepare reagents, test new controls, and maintain laboratory safety protocols. The position also requires you to assist in specimen processing and ensure compliance with clinical laboratory regulations and policies. You will collaborate closely with other laboratory staff in a dynamic work environment focused on delivering excellent patient care through precise and reliable diagnostic testing.
LabCorp values technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced laboratory setting. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Biological sciences, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or equivalent education combined with relevant experience are preferred. The position requires a Florida Medical Technologist Supervisor license, and certifications such as ASCP or AMT are advantageous.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a chemical or biological science, clinical laboratory science, medical technology
- One year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience or an MLS degree
- FL Medical Technologist Supervisor license
- ASCP or AMT certification preferred
- One year or more of experience supervising or leading a team preferred
- Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
- Proficient with Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft Office
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- High level of attention to detail with strong organizational skills
- Comfortability making decisions in a changing environment
- Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position

Job Duties
- Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
- Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
- Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
- Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
- Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
- Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
- Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
- Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
- Assist with processing of specimens when needed
- Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
