Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • must be 18 years or older if performing phlebotomy
  • progression through career ladder II-IV subject to completion of career ladder requirements
  • position may require DHS fingerprinting certification or ability to obtain fingerprint certification
  • valid state driver's license and eligibility for company auto insurance coverage dependent on department/location
  • phlebotomy/CLA certification as defined by state regulations

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent, phlebotomy or clinical laboratory assistant certification as defined by state regulations, previous clinical laboratory experience preferred, successful completion of a laboratory assistant program preferred, basic knowledge of specimen requirements and handling preferred, knowledge of medical terminology preferred, additional related education and/or experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Process and prepare patient samples including specimen collection, ensure correct patient and specimen identification and specimen integrity, perform general laboratory specimen processing, manage referral laboratory processing, conduct waived and moderate complexity testing under supervision, maintain laboratory equipment as directed, monitor specimen tracking and pending lists, ensure quality and accuracy in all work performed, conduct quality control and basic troubleshooting, communicate technical concerns to staff, participate in financial responsibilities through supply management and cost reduction initiatives, perform miscellaneous support duties such as phlebotomy and training, assist in updating training documents and procedures, communicate professionally and effectively with internal and external customers, demonstrate computer inquiry and problem-solving skills, participate in staff meetings and promote teamwork
